Home Groups @ St John's

Home groups, or small-groups as we refer to them, are really the heart and soul of our church. The idea behind the home group is a place where people feel that they are safe and looked after both spiritually and emotionally. A small-group provides opportunities for individuals to chat with like-minded people about whatever has been happening, they provide time for fellowship, sharing, food, coffee and for a time of scripture.

The thinking behind these groups is that they are an opportunity for people to get a deeper understanding of the big picture as it is outlined on a Sunday. They are a chance for people to ask questions about what they have heard and to seek answers about their faith in an environment that is caring and nurturing.

Small-groups also provide opportunities for our parishioners to share their faith with those who are not currently members of the church in a non-threatening space. Visitors can be as involved with a small-group as they want to be, and then when they choose to come along to a Sunday service they will know a few others in the congregation and this makes the first church experience a much more welcoming one.

Currently we have two small-groups running at St John's, but there will be more forming during the year. If you are interested in joining one of our groups or in finding out more information, please contact us.
